Colorado sports betting has made a strong start to 2021 after total wagers made in January set a new record. In total, $326,903,462 in sports wagers with 98% of the total betting handle coming from mobile.
Since Colorado legalized sports betting, the industry has had a strong start. In fact, January’s figures mean that Colorado sports wagering has exceeded the $1.5 billion mark in just nine months.
Additionally, sports betting in Colorado has boosted the state’s coffers with $1,195,774 collected in taxes. This represents a 125% increase compared to December 2020.
Having said that, Colorado has some way to go before matching the same numbers of New Jersey sports betting, which exceeded $956 million in sports betting handle.
Similar to New Jersey, NBA betting accounted for the majority of the betting handle with $88 million wagered. Then NFL followed with $74 million and then College Basketball with $39 million.
