After a strong performance in the opening game of the week, it’s time to break down the rest of the Sunday slate in Week 5. If you missed it earlier on Tuesday, I will refer back to the Week 5 Lines We’re Taking Early article a few times in this piece. This time, it’s the space to identify the best bets before we close the book on NFL Week 5 Picks. Let’s take a look and see where the profitable spots are:
NFL Week 5 Picks
Green Bay Packers at Cincinnati Bengals (+3) – Over 50.5 Points (-110 at PointsBet)
This line stunk when it opened – and it’s still the one that stinks the most in our NFL Week 5 Picks. The Bengals had an extra three days of rest, and they’ll be facing a Packers team that just played a Steelers squad that always brings the physicality. In all reality, Cincinnati has already been playing exceptionally well, and its offense will probably throw more this week with RB Joe Mixon listed as doubtful. Former No. 1 overall pick QB Joe Burrow has been lighting it up with at least two TD passes in each of his first four games. Look for that to increase with Mixon out in NFL Week 5, and Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers will inevitably have some numbers to add to the total as well. Burrow has yet to throw a pick at Paul Brown Stadium this season.
Chicago Bears (+5.5) at Las Vegas Raiders (-110 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Rookie QB Justin Fields was finally named the starter, and that probably takes some of the awkwardness off the team. The Raiders have been marred in drama each week this season, so Sunday’s NFL Week 5 matchup against a tough Bears defense could prove to be too much once again. While Chicago LB Khalil Mack is listed as questionable, it’s still a strong defense that can pose some problems. Fields has yet to go bananas offensively, but the Las Vegas defense has not been effective at all. Look for him to play a much bigger role with RB David Montgomery out for this one.
New York Giants (+7.5) at Dallas Cowboys (-131 at PointsBet)
This is probably at the top of NFL Week 5 Picks – and several books have this at +7 so head to PointsBet for this line. Truth be told, the Giants haven’t been as bad as their 1-3 record indicates. In Week 2-3, they lost on the final field goal of the game, with the Week 2 game at Washington proving to be a bad call upon further review. Nevertheless, this is a team on the rise with Joe Judge leading the way. RB Saquon Barkley has gotten back in his groove once again with two big performances in a row and QB Daniel Jones only has two turnovers in four games this season. The Cowboys have looked good at every step of the way, so it makes you wonder when a slip-up performance is coming.
