We’re going to start this NFL season exactly where the last one ended — down in Tampa, Florida. Thursday night’s NFL season opener features the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Dallas Cowboys. Most sports betting sites have favored the Bucs by 7.5 points with the total sitting at 52.
In this article, I will identify the top Thursday Night Football Best Bets for the Buccaneers-Cowboys matchup. Stay tuned here at US-Odds.com for the rest of the season to get the best insight on prop bets and spread-betting anywhere!
Thursday Night Football Best Bets – Buccaneers at Cowboys
Ronald Jones Touchdown + Bucs Win
(+145 at BetMGM)
There has been a lot of talk around camp that Jones will get more work than Leonard Fournette. And it makes plenty of sense, considering Fournette handled a great deal of work in the running game during the team’s Super Bowl run last season. Jones is also entering a contract season, making him all the more motivated to have a huge season. The Cowboys allowed the second-most rushing yards per game last season, so this could be a nice showcase for Jones to remind everyone that he is the most talented RB in Tampa Bay’s backfield at this point in his career.
Ezekiel Elliott – Under 14.5 Rushing Attempts
(-125 at Caesars Sportsbook)
The Cowboys will be missing G Zack Martin, who is on the COVID-Reserve list with a positive test. That is certainly not the news Dallas was looking for heading into its first game, especially with QB Dak Prescott returning from a season-ending ankle injury in 2020. Furthermore, Martin’s absence is already detrimental for Elliott, who will be facing the NFL’s No. 1 run defense from the previous season. We should probably expect the Bucs to be leading for most of this game, and that won’t translate into a lot of rushing attempts for Zeke.
Antonio Brown – Over 4.5 Receptions
(+115 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Don’t ever expect QB Tom Brady to complain about a lack of weapons down in Tampa. Although there are only so many targets to go around, Brown has been one of Brady’s favorite weapons in their short time together. Just like I said above with the Bucs expected to win, we should expect to see them run the football, and maybe even run some shorter routes in the passing game. Brown showed that he could still be an effective receiver last season, so I would expect that stock to keep on rising.
